Saathi Support, a project by Sangath, is an India-based research project (2024-2028) focused on developing and testing practical, accessible strategies to help university students who are experiencing low mood and life difficulties.
Sangath is working across university campuses in New Delhi to co-design, deliver, and evaluate three different peer-supported interventions: problem solving, behavioural activation, and study skills training. These interventions are being carried out by trained student Peer supporters, called Saathis, and specially designed Workbooks on each of the intervention methodologies.
The aim is to better understand how, why, and for whom these interventions work.
Paus came on board Saathi Support as a Design partner, and helped design the visual identity for the project, and Workbooks which help guide participating students through the different peer supported interventions. We collaborated with Natalie Lycops (Constant Design) who led the visual branding and graphic design, and worked closely with her to create a visual language that held storytelling as its guiding principle.
The illustrations were developed keeping the context of the project in mind, with special attention to inclusivity and diverse representation.
Paus also designed an animated video introducing the project to interested student participants, so they could make an informed decision about being a part of the project.
