Brew for the Wild
Great Ale Works
Great State Aleworks, is a Pune-based craft brewery focused on modern and experimental ales using local ingredients, with an emphasis on juicy IPAs, tangy sours and millet ales.
They’ve joined forces with Wild Otters Research to create something meaningful: a quarterly beer series with two simple goals:
1. Raise awareness about the spaces we share with wildlife.
2. Raise funds for the vital conservation projects that protect them.
Paus came on board to design the label for the first beer in this series, a Guava Pale Ale which puts the spotlight on The Indian Flying Fox. The ecologists on the team felt a more realistic approach would work better in helping people make the association to the bats they might spot in their surroundings.
Accompanying the bottle are a series of playful stickers, with stylised illustrations featuring the False Vampire Bat, the Indian Flying Fox, the Woolly Horseshoe bat, and the Painted Woolly Bat.
Part of the proceeds from the sale will go into bat conservation and research efforts.
